I have just completed this crest for a client using Illustrator- it’s 100% vector and incorporates quite a few complex gradient meshes and transparent objects. It was extremely interesting, challenging and enjoyable to work on and I’m really pleased with the result, as is the client.

Sometimes a job is just MEGA FUN to do. This was one of them, a flyer for a party at Corsica Studios to be hosted by Toddla T’s Girls Music and The 2 Bears. The more I looked at it the less the combo of sans serif type and lurid eye-popping colour looked like anything I’d seen before and the more I liked it. It’s going to be an awesome bash- here’s the press release if you like playing guessing games.
‘The allstar line up to this party is TOP secret and cannot be announced, if you like dance music, you do not want to miss this.
Girls Music is the new record label started by Toddla T and Raf Daddy. Toddla T is best known for his killer production, a delightful cross between House, Garage and Jamaican Bashment flavas. The Radio One presenter has also worked with the likes of Roots Manuva, Redlight and a whole host of the UKs finest Grime MCs.
The 2 Bears are Joe Goddard of Hot Chip and Raf Daddy. The Bears make a lively blend of whole hearted House, Techno and the modern man’s Pop. Their debut E.P. came out on Fatboy Slim’s beloved Southern Fried Records. Their second E.P. “Curious Nature” is coming out soon on the same label.
The simply stunning line up to this party cannot be announced due to contractual reasons, if you like dance music, you do not want to miss this.
So those are the mysterious forces at work behind this rave, we leave it to you to work out who it could be that’s going to be rocking the Corsica studios on August 29th.’

Possibly my favourite combination of drawing materials in the world.

Avalon commissioned me to do this for the cover of their Edinburgh Festival Comedy Guide. It’s a fineliner drawing (A3 reducing to A5 for print) and is a parody of the main Festival guide. I studied in Edinburgh for four years so drawing all of the landmarks and other references was a delight.

I left this lying around and added to it sporadically with spraypaint, markers, paint pens, pencils, biros and fineliners. Doodleoodleoo.

I put something simpler inside in keeping with the spirit of Project Friendly: an Illustrator’s Survival Kit- some teabags and a pencil.

There are much more fun things to do with Subbuteo pieces than play football.

‘These things never seem to get any easier.’

I was at the wonderful pop up Ping Pong Parlour on Marshall St in London last Friday doing felt tip tattoos on people. I only managed to get a pic of these knuckle tats but I’ll be there this Friday and I’ll try to get some more photos then.

This barcode will take your smartphone to my website should you want to scan it. It’s well Jackson.
I’ve neglected vectors recently in favour of working with physical materials but it feels as though it’s time to get back into this side of things because I really love the results. Here are a few things I’ve drawn in Illustrator or Flash.

This came out the other day and I can’t really explain it except to say that I was playing with Illustrator, drew the stealthy bloke on the right and then decided he needed something to hide from, and a kung fu chick and a pig with a shotgun sprang to mind.

It’s Seedy Galactus, from a previous post, but as a crisp vector rather than muddied up with VHS effects. Drawn in Flash with a Wacom tablet.

This is Wolfgang Voigt, head of Kompakt Records and prolific techno producer. I can’t remember why I ended up drawing him but here you go.

Again, this was just some playing around in Illustrator. These started as pencil sketches and were scanned and traced – some time ago, I wouldn’t be happy with those legs these days.

This REALLY is old. As far as I remember, I did this in 2002 for Waitrose.com, and I drew it with a mouse. I still like the shine on the car and the insides of the wheels.
I’m in love with this song today.
