I was commissioned to create wall art / mural illustrations by Symbol Display, a large format printer based in Middlesborough. The company was founded back in 1982 and I was briefed to devise something incorporating 80s icons, hand-lettered local slang and hyper-local landmarks. I have always dabbled in graffiti lettering and was delighted to be able to design some of that as a centerpiece to one of the murals. I also included grungy halftone patterns as a nod to the company's screenprinting origins.

All created in Adobe Illustrator, which was really creaking and groaning when I came to outline all the strokes!
